I'm Ahkshara Sankar, a product designer, humanising one product at a time.

HELLO.

Long Story Short  📃

I am an engineer-turned UX Designer, who is now on the journey to become an Inclusive Industrial Designer. While designing user experiences digitally, I noticed how accessibility was a mere checklist in the design. This realization led me to delve deeper into the design of everyday products, revealing a significant gap in usability for marginalized communities like the elderly, people with disabilities, and kids. Motivated by this, I embarked on my Masters Degree (M.Des) in Industrial Design journey to focus on creating inclusive products. Currently, as a part of my degree, I'm actively engaged in various design projects with a primary commitment to inclusive design.

How so? 🤓

The world is not made for everyone. I am just trying to bridge the gap.

I know, it's cliche.

Apart from designing human centric products, I can 💪

Research 🔬

From writing research papers to scavenging GitHub for the perfect code, my journey from engineer to designer has honed my knack for finding exactly what users need. It's like being a detective, but with a knack for pixels and pain points!

Illustrate & Doodle 🎨

I run a small (by this, I mean reallllyyy small) business, called artsyypixels, where I sell art prints that make anyone chuckle upon seeing them. I might not be Pablo Picasso, but I can draw to make people smile (and make some money).

Story-tell 🗣️

I tell stories with humor, keeping my audience engaged. Drawing from my experience as an emcee, my writing crafts lively case studies and compelling arguments. I mean, I convinced my Indian parents for a degree in design...

Jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes

better than master of one.

Initiating conversations that matter.

What else? 🤔

Apart from obsessing over Inclusive/Industrial Design, I also like to sketch (traditional paper-pen sketches), illustrate, read thriller books, build legos and cycle around. I love learning as well and I don't miss an opportunity to try out new things - be it Ceramics, Weaving or learning a new language like Telugu.

P.S: I also own a small business where I sell my art prints, and some sustainable stationary like eco-friendly bookmarks and a notebook filled with recycled paper.

I love to collaborate on passion projects! So do drop me a message on LinkedIn if you would like to collaborate on a project :)

This site was designed with love, patience, loads of ice cream & the need to find the right opportunities.
